Quickie Concerning US Drug Policy
While I do not necessarily condone, nor disapprove of drug use I would like to ask a simple question.
If the state of California has legalized the use of medical marijuana, and the federal government still retains the right to persecute the crime of marijuana use and possession…then who wins out exactly? Rather, does this opposing dichotomy of laws even make the least bit of sense?
This type of counter-active legislation on the state and federal level, without some intervention by either the Supreme Court or the Congress, will lead to increased legal spending and will help to choke already overloaded courtrooms.
I therefore suggest a very simple maneuver: get the legislation straight. Doesn’t matter which direction, just straighten it out either way so that this type of unnecessary spending doesn’t have to exist. Waste of money is what it is.
